Razer Phone First Look, Specs and Price

Razer is one of the best gaming peripheral manufactures out there.  As you know, Razer acquired Nextbit so we were expecting that Razer is working on a Gaming centered smartphone. So, Here we are with a Razer phone that is packed with a lot of impressive features. Razer worked on the idea of creating the best gaming phone so there are a lot of things that are there to fulfill a Gamers needs.Razer Phone First Look

Razer phone design is very much similar to Nextbit Robin, It features a Blocky Aluminum designs with Matte Black finish with Razer Logo on the back. Razer logo doesn’t have the Chroma lighting or any light at all. It does have a shiny chrome finish. It doesn’t have an edge to edge display unlike most of the smartphones in 2017. Razer Phone has dual stereo speakers on the thick edges. There is no home button. We have the fingerprint scanner and power button on the right edge of the phone, Sim card tray is also located above the power button. There is no headphone jack but it has USB type C port with fast charging. You also get a THX certified adapter for headphones.

On the opposite edge, we have volume buttons similar to the Nextbit Robin.  Razer phone speakers equipped with Dolby Atmos and You get clear and rocking sound from the speakers. These are also powered by Dual amplifiers certified by THX. Razer has designed this phone keeping the Gamers in mind so everything bit of hardware is gamer centric. Large bezel on top and bottom are somehow helpful in holding the phone while Gaming. Large speaker grills make sure that there is no effect on the sound coming out of them even if you put your thumbs on it.

Display and Battery

As a gamer, you know frame rate matters the most. To get higher frame rate on your display you need a high refresh rate. Razer Phone is the first ever smartphone to features a 120hz display. That is super fast for gaming. Razer Phone features a 5.72in IPS QHD display with 1440x 2560p screen resolutions. It also has the UltraMotion technology so there is no stutter or lag at all. The display also features wide color gamut so everything looks bright, vivid and clear. 120hz display makes sure that you’re getting 120 frames per second while you’re gaming. You can also change that from the setting to save battery life.

Razer phone has a 4000mAh battery, more than any flagship device this year. It also has Qualcomm quick charge 4+, you can recharge to 85% in an hour.

Processor and Ram

Razer phone has the Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 Octa-Core processor and Qualcomm® Adreno™ 540 graphics processor which is used in almost all the flagship devices. It also has the 8GB dual channel LPDDR4, more than any flagship device out there. The heatsink of the phone is designed so the back of the Phone act as the heatsink so we have high frame rate but the temperature will be low. It has 64GB of expandable storage. There are no headphones in the box so might have to get some Razer Kraken V2.

Razer phone has a dual camera setup at back with dual tone dual LED flash. We have a 13MP F2.6 Zoom camera and 12MP F1.75 Wide angle camera. Nothing special in the camera and we have the normal stock Android camera app. Although unlike other phones you have smooth zooming option in the camera that captures photos using both cameras. At the front, We have 8MP F2.0 camera. I don’t think it has the portrait selfie mode, unlike other smartphones.

Preorders start today at $699, and it ships on November 17. Razer phone will cost around 80000/-PKR in Pakistan.

Gaming Phone

There are not a lot of games in the Google store that feature QHD resolutions and 120 frames per second gameplay. A gaming phone, of course, matters only as much as the games it can play. Lack of truly great, unmissable games on mobile has plagued every so-called “gamer phone”. Razer has is already working with so many game makers. It’s working with the makers of games like Arena of Valor and Final Fantasy to optimize their wares for the Razer Phone’s specs. That would be good for the Razer Phone, and for the Android ecosystem in general.

Razer has done a great job in designing their very first smartphones. Apart from gaming inspired high end specification. We get the stock android with one of the best launcher in google store i.e Nova launcher. There are plenty of customization options. Razer has the theme store to load you Razer phone with gaming featured themes and icon packs. You get a high-end device with the best speaker and display for around 700$ which is pretty good deal. Our only concern is the camera but we have to wait until we get our hands on the phone.
